Advanced Solutions for Refrigerator Recycing

With the continuous upgrading and replacement of various household appliances, an increasing number of units are being discarded. How to reasonably and efficiently recycle these end-of-life refrigerators and appliances has become a pressing issue requiring immediate attention within the recycling industry. Refrigerator recycling equipment should not be viewed merely as an auxiliary tool for a scrap yard, but rather as a comprehensive, integrated process encompassing both shredding and sorting.

A scrapped refrigerator constitutes a complex composite assembly, primarily composed of iron, aluminum, copper, various types of plastics, as well as foam insulation and refrigerants. If processed improperly, this not only leads to the leakage of greenhouse gases but also results in low purity levels for the recovered materials.

After years of dedicated research and technological advancements, Suny Group has developed a state-of-the-art system for recycling discarded refrigerators. This refrigerator recycling equipment is capable of efficiently processing refrigerators of various sizes, effectively sorting them into distinct streams of recyclable materials—such as metals, plastics, and foam. The recycling process primarily comprises the following key stages:

1. Pre-treatment and Degassing: Prior to the shredding operation, the compressor is first removed, and a specialized recovery system is utilized to extract the refrigerant. This step is critical for ensuring full compliance with various environmental regulations and standards anticipated for 2026.

2. Primary Shredding: The main body of the refrigerator is fed into a specialized shredder characterized by high torque and low rotational speed. To effectively mitigate explosion risks and ensure operational safety, the shredding chamber can be equipped with an inert gas (nitrogen) injection system.

3. Foam Separation: Our system incorporates specialized equipment designed for foam densification. The polyurethane foam is separated from the metal and plastic components and subsequently compressed into high-density blocks; these finished products can then be resold or repurposed as insulation or packaging materials.

4. Sorting Technology: Magnetic drums, eddy current separators, and air classifiers work in tandem to ultimately yield separated streams of iron, copper, aluminum, plastics, and other residual materials.

5. Fully Automated Workflow: The system is capable of processing between 60 and 100 discarded refrigerators per hour, with the entire operation requiring a workforce of just 2 to 3 operators.
